Nigel Woodcock - Green candidate for Wythenshawe and Sale East

Nigel Woodcock, a fellow UCU Green Rep and a Further Education Lecturer has been chosen by Green Party members in Manchester and Trafford to stand as the Green Party candidate in the imminent Wythenshawe and Sale East by-election. He has lived in Manchester and Trafford for 32 years and teaches at Manchester College.

Like me he was previously a Labour Party member but joined the Greens when he realised how seriously we are threatened by climate change and environmental catastrophe. He will be focusing on three important issues which affect many people in Wythenshawe and Sale East:

- Halting the privatisation of the NHS

- Tackling the increased poverty caused by this coalition government

- Stopping Fracking from happening in Brooklands

I'm really pleased Nigel has put himself forward, and with the money raised for a full freepost (thank you everyone) and potentially more to come, we'll be able to get our message out to all voters in the constituency. Expect us to produce a few media surprises and I promise at least a couple of blogs on this topic.
